Ritavi police hunt 2 suspects in red Toyota after 3 minors allegedly raped in Limpopo bushes

The Mopani District is on high alert as police track two suspects involved in a harrowing attack on three teenage sisters. The victims, aged 14 and 17, were allegedly lured into a vehicle under the guise of a quick trip to get food.

The ordeal began late Saturday night, 08 August 2026, in Lephepane village. Two men driving a red Toyota Corolla offered the girls transport to a local outlet, but instead of heading to their destination, the drivers diverted to a secluded bush area in Khujwana village.

A Distressing Early Morning Call

The girls' 54-year-old mother received a shocking phone call around 03:45 on Sunday morning. A garage attendant contacted her to report that her daughters had arrived at a local service station seeking refuge after being dumped on the side of the road.

It was later revealed that both suspects had sexually assaulted all three teenagers before abandoning them. The Ritavi SAPS have since opened three separate cases of rape following the formal report from the family.

Police Vow Justice

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, has slammed the perpetrators of this gender-based violence. He confirmed that the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit has been tasked with the investigation.

Detectives are currently using all available resources to identify the red Toyota Corolla and the men inside. This incident follows a string of similar crimes in the province, including the recent arrest of a man for allegedly violating his granddaughters.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle used in the crime to come forward immediately. Community members are reminded to remain vigilant when accepting transport from strangers.
