Cape Town community outraged after parents allegedly sold 11-year-old daughter for R100

The Strandfontein community is reeling following horrific allegations that an 11-year-old girl was sold for sex by her own parents. The claims suggest the child was exploited for payments as low as R100.

The situation gained public attention after a video filmed in the Masincedane Informal Settlement went viral. In the footage, a concerned resident pleaded for intervention to save the young girl from her domestic situation.

Disturbing Justifications

The resident who recorded the appeal reportedly confronted the girl’s father about the abuse. Instead of denying the claims, the father allegedly argued that the child needed to contribute to the family's finances.

Neighbors further alleged that the father believed it was acceptable for his daughter to "sell herself" because the household had no other source of income. These revelations have sparked intense outrage across the Western Cape.

Upon hearing the reports, the Strandfontein Community Policing Forum (CPF) stepped in to coordinate with local law enforcement. CPF chairperson Sandy Schuter confirmed she personally oversaw the initial response to ensure the girl's safety.

Schuter emphasized that crimes against children are an attack on the entire community's social fabric. She pushed for immediate arrests to ensure the cycle of exploitation was broken without delay.
