Thabile Ngwato and Thokozani Nkosi go separate ways after 8 years in business
Media moguls Thabile Ngwato and Thokozani Nkosi have officially dissolved their joint venture, dividing three major TV channels between them.

The South African media landscape has been shaken by the news that industry powerhouses Thabile Ngwato and Thokozani Nkosi have ended their long-standing business partnership. The duo, who co-founded the Ngwato Nkosi Group, have decided to go their separate ways after nearly a decade of collaboration.
Entertainment insider Phil Mphela broke the news, revealing that the pair has formally split their shared assets. The move marks the end of an era for the company that successfully challenged the local broadcasting status quo.
Dividing the Television Empire
Under the terms of the separation, ownership of their high-profile television properties has been redistributed. Thabile Ngwato now holds sole ownership of the 24-hour news station Newzroom Afrika.
Thokozani Nkosi has pivoted to a new independent venture titled The Rooms Network. This new entity has taken control of the group's other two specialized channels: the children-focused PlayRoom and the cinema-centric Movie Room.
A Legacy of Growth
The partnership began in 2018 under the banner of Ngwato Nkosi Holdings. Their biggest milestone came in 2019 when they beat out competitors for a MultiChoice news slot, leading to the rapid rise of Newzroom Afrika.
Nkosi’s new company is already making aggressive moves in the market. The Rooms Network has reportedly secured the television rights for the popular project 'Shut Up Men Are Talking' by Chris Q. Radebe, signaling a fresh content strategy.
Industry Reactions
The split has sparked intense conversation on social media platforms like X, where followers expressed a mix of surprise and curiosity about the future of both brands. While many are sad to see the partnership end, others are eager to see how the channels evolve under independent leadership.
Despite the structural changes, both parties seem poised to maintain their influence in the South African entertainment and news sectors through their newly individual portfolios.
