Frustration Mounts as Victor Majola's Trial Over DJ Warras Killing Faces More Postponements
The alleged mastermind behind the killing of DJ Warras has been granted a final two-week window to secure his defense funding.

The legal proceedings against Victor Majola, the man accused of orchestrating the 2025 murder of DJ Warras, have hit another stumbling block. During an appearance at the Gauteng High Court on 19 August 2026, the defense requested more time to handle financial matters.
Advocate Du Plessis, representing the 44-year-old Majola, asked for a six-week delay. The defense team argued that the accused and his family need the additional time to raise the funds necessary to cover a trial expected to last at least 20 court days.
State Rejects Long Delay
The prosecution was firmly against the request, noting that Majola has already had two months to finalize his legal representation. The state voiced concerns over the recurring delays in bringing the case to trial.
The presiding judge expressed skepticism regarding the likelihood of the funds being secured, asking for guarantees that the money would be available. Consequently, the court denied the six-week request, granting only a two-week extension.
Background of the Shooting
The case stems from the tragic shooting of DJ Warras outside the Zambesi Building in the Johannesburg CBD on 16 December 2025. Majola is alleged to be the individual who planned the fatal hit.
While Majola's case remains in pre-trial limbo, his co-accused has already been sentenced. Joaquim Armando Pacula, 25, received a 25-year prison term after admitting he was paid R25,000 to carry out the murder.
Final Deadline Set
The court has scheduled the next hearing for 18 September 2026. This date has been marked as the final opportunity for Majola to resolve his representation issues before the matter proceeds.
Public sentiment remains low as observers express exhaustion with the pace of the South African judiciary. Many social media users continue to call for swift justice to honor the memory of the popular DJ.
