Sol Phenduka drops bombshell claim about Sizwe Dhlomo’s successor at Kaya 959
The Podcast and Chill star has dropped a major claim about who might be replacing Sizwe Dhlomo permanently at the station.

The South African radio landscape is buzzing following bold claims made by Sol Phenduka regarding the vacant breakfast slot at Kaya 959. Speaking on the latest episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG, Sol suggested that a major veteran is set to return to the airwaves.
According to Sol, insider sources have indicated that DJ Fresh is the primary candidate to take over the morning show. This comes after Sizwe Dhlomo’s recent and unexpected departure from the station he called home for six years.
The Immediate Exit Drama
Sol shared details about the internal friction that allegedly followed Sizwe's resignation. While Sizwe initially planned to stay until 2026 to see out his contract, the station reportedly moved to end the relationship with immediate effect.
“Today he announced, but obviously the contracts at Kaya end in June, and he was supposed to continue doing the show, but these birdies there at Kaya told me that the manager was like, ‘It's immediate effect now,’” Sol claimed during the podcast.
A Familiar Face Returns?
Currently, Thomas Msengana is holding down the breakfast slot in an interim capacity. However, Sol believes this is a temporary fix while the station prepares for a massive shake-up scheduled for June.
The rumors didn't stop with DJ Fresh. Sol also alleged that former managing director Greg Maloka might be making a comeback to the broadcaster, suggesting a complete overhaul of the station's leadership and talent.
Waiting for Official Word
Kaya 959 has remained tight-lipped about the speculation, only confirming that a permanent breakfast team will be officially unveiled in June. DJ Fresh has also not commented on the reports of his potential return.
If Sol’s “birdies” are correct, it would mark one of the most significant radio rotations of the year. Listeners are now waiting to see if the Big Dawg will indeed reclaim a spot on the Gauteng airwaves.
