Rory & Mal Defend Drake After Days Of 20v1 Backlash
The podcasting duo is fighting back against the online backlash surrounding the 6 God’s latest viral appearance.

Drake is once again the center of a heated internet debate following his appearance on a Stake ninth-anniversary live stream. The Toronto rapper participated in a viral 20v1 dating game format, featuring contestants like Lena The Plug and Lily Phillips, ending with goth cosplayer Pinkchyu taking the top spot.
The appearance quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons in the eyes of his critics. Many fans felt uncomfortable watching the superstar bark on command for a contestant, leading to accusations that the nearly 40-year-old artist is becoming overexposed and acting immaturely.
The Podcast Defense
Rory & Mal aren't buying the outrage, however. During a recent episode of their podcast, the duo stepped up to defend Drake, dismissing the idea that a casual gaming stream requires a high level of decorum.
“What were people expecting him to do on the stream? Give a PowerPoint presentation?” the hosts joked while laughing off the viral drama. They argued that the backlash is disproportionate to what was essentially just a promotional event for a brand partner.
Rory did point out one potential valid concern, noting that Drake’s association with the NELK Boys during the event might be more problematic than the game itself. He referenced the group's recent decision to host Benjamin Netanyahu on their own platform as a more serious point of contention.
Drake Claps Back
The rapper isn't letting the comments slide either. Drake recently took aim at media personality Wayno, labeling him a hypocrite after Wayno described the 20v1 appearance as both "corny" and "disappointing."
This latest stir highlights the ongoing tension between the hip-hop community and its biggest star. As Drake continues to avoid traditional rap media in favor of niche internet streams, the scrutiny over his public image only seems to intensify.
Despite the noise, there is no sign that the OVO mogul plans to change his strategy. These types of viral stunts have become a core part of his modern brand identity, ensuring he remains the most talked-about man in the industry.
