Marvel Studios’ ‘X-Men’ Reboot Cast: Which Actors Are Joining the Movie

The long-awaited return of the X-Men to the big screen is officially in motion. During the D23 showcase on August 14, 2026, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige introduced the ensemble cast that will lead the franchise's first mutant-centric film since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox.

Directed by Jake Schreier, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028. Feige noted that the narrative will be anchored by Jean Grey, marking a significant creative shift for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe entry.

A New Generation of Mutants

Kit Connor is set to lead the team as Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops. The Heartstopper star takes over the visor from James Marsden, who originated the role in the earlier Fox films and is slated to appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

Joining him is Samara Weaving, the Australian actress known for horror hits like Ready or Not. She will portray the powerful telepath Emma Frost, while Sadie Sink officially continues her role as Jean Grey after a prior appearance in the Spider-Man franchise.

Villains and Visionaries

In a major casting coup, two-time Oscar nominee Adam Driver has joined the MCU as the antagonist Nathaniel Milbury, the human alias for Mister Sinister. Driver’s involvement follows years of rumors linking him to various Marvel roles, including Magneto.

Christopher Abbott will take on the mantle of Professor Charles Xavier. His casting creates a mini-reunion for fans of the series Girls, as he will face off against his former co-star, Driver, on opposing sides of the mutant conflict.

Rounding Out the Core Seven

The roster is completed by Inde Navarrette, who will play the fan-favorite power-absorber Rogue, and Broadway newcomer Maya Boyd as the weather-controlling Storm. This lineup represents the core team Marvel is using to reboot the saga for a new generation.

With the director of Thunderbolts at the helm and a script that centers on the Jean Grey bloodline, the 2028 release is shaping up to be the centerpiece of the MCU's next major phase.
