Joe Amabile’s Health: What to Know After Early stage Glioma Was Discovered on His Brain

Bachelor Nation favorite Joe Amabile is opening up about a significant health scare that recently turned his world upside down. The reality star took to social media to reveal that doctors discovered a glioma, a type of brain tumor, during recent medical examinations.

The discovery followed a series of scans and MRIs, leading to what Amabile described as a month filled with emotional highs and lows. Despite the shocking news, he remained determined to handle the situation with transparency for his followers.

A Major Medical Procedure

To address the growth, Amabile underwent a craniotomy at Memorial Sloan Kettering. He admitted that while he hesitated to share such personal news, he eventually decided to document the experience as it has become a defining part of his current life journey.

Following the surgery, the star provided a hopeful update to his community. He confirmed that surgeons were able to successfully remove the entire growth during the invasive procedure.

Understanding the Diagnosis

The specific diagnosis was an astrocytoma, which is a form of glioma. While Joe confirmed the tumor was malignant, he noted that it was classified as very low-grade, which significantly improved his long-term prognosis.

“I got my prognosis, which was fairly good,” he shared in a follow-up video just a week after leaving the operating table. “I do have an astrocytoma, but it’s very low-grade. They did get the whole thing.”

The Road Ahead

Recovery for Amabile involves more than just healing from surgery. To ensure the cancer does not return, he will remain on a long-term medication regimen, which he explained involves taking a daily pill designed to keep any remaining bad cells dormant.

Regular MRI monitoring will now be a permanent fixture in his life to watch for any changes. Despite the lifestyle shift, Amabile is maintaining his trademark optimism, noting that his physical recovery has exceeded expectations.

Reflecting on the ordeal, he noted how surreal the experience felt, admitting he never thought he would be someone facing a brain tumor. He remains grateful for the support of his friends and family as he transitions into this new phase of health management.
