Filming the 2005 big-screen adaptation of The Dukes of Hazzard was far from a joyride for director Jay Chandrasekhar. The filmmaker recently detailed the chaotic experience of working with Hollywood icon Burt Reynolds, who portrayed the villainous Boss Hogg.

According to Chandrasekhar, the production was plagued by the veteran actor’s unpredictable behavior. He alleges that Reynolds was on heavy painkillers during the shoot, which led to significant lapses in memory and a hostile attitude toward the leadership on set.

Memory Lapses and Hostility

The director noted that Reynolds struggled to keep up with the script, often forgetting his lines entirely. This created a difficult environment for the crew, but the tension soon escalated beyond simple professional frustrations.
